Skincare for Praying Muslims

Praying Muslims are required to wash their face during prayers up to 5 times daily, this can make keeping a simple routine difficult. So, here is a skincare routine guide and some tips to help youavoid the effects of frequent washing like dehydration, dryness, breakouts and dull skin


First Routine - After Morning Prayer (Fajr)

  • Cleanse

  • Toner / Serum

  • Moisturise

  • Protect (Sunscreen)

Second Routine - After Zuhr

  • Hydrating Toner / Serum

  • Protect (Sunscreen)

Third Routine - After Asr

  • Hydrating Toner / Serum

  • Protect (Sunscreen)

Fourth Routine - After Maghrib

  • Hydrating Toner / Serum

Night Routine - After Isha'a

  • Cleanse

  • Efoliate (two-three nights a week)

  • Toner / Serum

  • Moisturise

  • Qun recommends leaning towards vegan and cruelty free skincare products in order to ensure you're not using Haram ingredients in your skincare if that is something that bothers you.She also says monitoring her skin's needs and choosing products that suits her skin type has helped her minimize irritation that could arise from over cleansing.

  • Hawwa finds that wearing a lightweight moisturizer with occlusive ingredients help to prevent her skin from getting dehydrated after performing ablution.Using a hydrating mist after ablution to replenish moisture before applying spf also helps avoid dehydration and irritation, says Hawwaa. She also suggests that planning your routies around Wudu & Salah times e.g reserving the night routine till after Isha'a .
